Your choice between POP and IMAP depends on how you plan to access and manage your email. Using POP3 means your emails are downloaded from the server to your device and typically deleted from the server afterward. This can be advantageous if you need to access your emails offline without relying on a constant internet connection. However, the drawback is that once emails are downloaded, they aren't easily accessible from other devices, which can be limiting if you use multiple devices to check your mail or need centralized message management.
On the other hand, IMAP keeps all your emails on the server and synchronizes access across all your devices. This means you can read, move, or delete messages from your phone, computer, or tablet, and all your changes will stay consistent everywhere. It’s ideal if you work from different locations or use several devices. IMAP also relies more heavily on a stable internet connection to function smoothly, and it can place a bit more load on the server if many clients are syncing frequently.
Email Xpert offers unlimited storage (to reasonable limits), so the fact POP uses less space in the server is not really relevant to your choice.
Our advice is to use POP3 inboxes only where your internet availability is patchy, e.g. if you travel a lot to places where internet connections are unreliable.
